Starting a new project
The stages in a project are:
- Check that the version of the document does not exist already in Wikisource.
- Check that copyright conditions are fulfilled
- Upload images of the pages to Wikimedia Commons
- Upload text of the pages
- Create the page in the main namespace
- As chapters are loaded, transclude the pages to the main namespace
- Add the appropriate copyright, category and incompleteness tags
- Start proofreading
- Add entries into the appropriate Portal
- Add entry to the Author page, creating it if necessary.
- When the document is verified, remove the incompleteness tags.

Create a Wikisource account
We’ll look at how to proofread a page and how to import a text from a pdf or a djvu on the Internet Archive but, first things first, please create a Wikisource account if you have not already done so. (If you already have a Wikipedia login then you can user this on Wikisource too).
