I delivered a short welcome speech at Elearing@ed forum at Edinburgh University on April 23.\u00a0 I took the opportunity to quote her.<\/p>\n<p>In her lecture she<span class=\"st\"> quoted <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Aaron_Swartz\">Aaron Swartz<\/a><\/span>\u00a0 &#8220;It&#8217;s not ok not to understand the Internet anymore.&#8221;*<\/p>\n<p>I talked about Creative Commons.<\/p>\n<p>Creative Commons has changed the way the Internet works in higher education.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, it is not ok not to understand Creative Commons anymore.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As it happens, the day before , on April 22, I saw <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Oona_King,_Baroness_King_of_Bow\">Baroness Oona King of Bow<\/a> speak.\u00a0 Baroness Lane Fox name-checked Ada Lovelace, who was of course, Countess King in her own day, but I think that is just co-incidence.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>*She also said &#8220;get more women involved in technology.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Baroness Martha Lane-Fox delivered the 39th annual Dimbleby Lecture from London\u2019s Science Museum on March 30, 2015.
