{"id":483,"date":"2022-10-06T08:46:34","date_gmt":"2022-10-06T08:46:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thinking.is.ed.ac.uk\/ada-lovelace-day\/?p=483"},"modified":"2024-12-04T11:50:16","modified_gmt":"2024-12-04T11:50:16","slug":"digital-skills-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thinking.is.ed.ac.uk\/ada-lovelace-day\/digital-skills-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"ALD Digital Skills competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Digital Skills competition for Ada Lovelace Day \u2013 win a goody bag!<\/h2>\n<p>To celebrate Ada Lovelace Day and promote our new course programme, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ed.ac.uk\/is\/skills\">Digital Skills Team<\/a> are running a competition to win a bag of branded goodies, including a pen, ruler, fan, water bottle and notebook.<\/p>\n<p>To enter the competition, simply spell out ADA LOVELACE by finding 11 Digital Skills courses that start with each letter. Staff can search the <a href=\"https:\/\/elxw.fa.em3.oraclecloud.com\/fscmUI\/faces\/FuseWelcome\">People &amp; Money Learning App<\/a> for Digital Skills courses, and students can search <a href=\"https:\/\/www.events.ed.ac.uk\/index.cfm?eventssearch=&amp;event=search&amp;eventStart=0&amp;eventProviderId=120&amp;cw_inChannelLink=1&amp;cw_passThrough=marked\">Event Booking<\/a>. Each letter should be represented by a different course (no duplicates!). If we don\u2019t have a course starting with one of the letters, you can use a course with a word in the title starting with that letter.<\/p>\n<p>Here is an example of what we are looking for, using \u2018Digital Skills\u2019 instead of \u2018Ada Lovelace\u2019.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>D &#8211; Developing your digital skills<\/li>\n<li>I \u2013 Introduction to Audacity<\/li>\n<li>G \u2013 Getting started with Microsoft Teams<\/li>\n<li>I \u2013 Information Security: Phish and tips<\/li>\n<li>T \u2013 Teaching with Wikipedia: a practical \u2018how to\u2019 workshop<\/li>\n<li>A \u2013 Adobe Creative Cloud Express: Introduction<\/li>\n<li>L \u2013 Library Bitesize: Check your source<\/li>\n<li>S \u2013 Study resources for literature reviews<\/li>\n<li>K \u2013 Digital Research Pecha Kucha<\/li>\n<li>I \u2013 Introduction to data science<\/li>\n<li>L \u2013 Information Security: The evolving threat landscape<\/li>\n<li>L \u2013 Introduction to LinkedIn Learning<\/li>\n<li>S \u2013 Subtitling for media creators<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To enter the competition, email your answer to the Digital Skills Team at <a href=\"mailto:is.skills@ed.ac.uk\">is.skills@ed.ac.uk<\/a> by the end of Friday 14th October 2022 &#8211; the first 5 correct answers picked at random will each get a goody bag. We will notify winners by email before 28th October.
